DKV Passenger counting system
Purpose / Description
Starting in 2022, DKV Közlekedési Zrt. began to equip its vehicles with passenger counting sensors. After the successful testing phase, 43 vehicles now have a passenger counter, which makes up one third of the bus fleet. These sensors are able to provide the DKV timetable planning team with data that can be used to optimize the company's service.
Process / Execution
This means that the busiest routes and lines can be detected with the help of the data, and the passenger numbers between individual stops can be tracked, all of which can be compared in different periods. Main statistics can be read out, and within that there is detailed data broken down into stops. The most important of these are the statistics of passengers getting on and taking off.
The interpretation of the data is aided by a clear, web-based data visualization interface, which, in addition to facilitating the work of professional colleagues, provides an opportunity for lay decision-makers to easily understand the transfer of information.
