Purpose / Description

The aim of the Project was to improve safety measures around pedestrian crossings that are quite busy, but have no traffic lights. This was done to minimize the chances of any accidents and improve the citizens’ sense of security.

Process / Execution

Sensors were installed on both sides of the crossing, sending signals to LED lights positioned next to the zebra crossing. The LEDs blink with white lights, signaling to motorists to slow down, as the pedestrian has the right of way.

Requirements

Pearl Enterprises’ products, consisting of sensors and LED lights, along with the connection between them and a reliable power source.

Results

A smart apparatus that operates autonomously, assisting all road users year-round, enhancing safety without requiring active supervision.

Summary

The project integrates well into the Debrecen Smart City strategy, as it addresses crucial aspects of traffic and public safety. Plans for further installations of similar pedestrian crossings are underway.
